"C&O Reflections"

C&O Reflections  is an archival pigment print.  The negative was made with the modified Korona 8x10 camera on TMAX 100 film.  The exposure was 90 seconds at F284 with a yellow filter.  I scanned a 6x9 portion of the negative and used Photoshop to adjust tone and contrast.

The six triangles of light and dark space that converge on a lock just above Swain’s Lock on the C&O Canal were what attracted me to this scene.  I placed the camera tripod with one foot just in the water.  It was after Noon so the area was both brightly lit and heavily shaded.  There was no breeze and the water on the canal mirrored the far bank.
